Tweeted as ‘Fun new ring’ by Katy, the massive ‘bling’ ring would reportedly help her overcome her emotional loss and start a newly-single life.

Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels sale witnessed a world record for a 110.03 carat sun-drop diamond. The spectacular pear-shaped fancy vivid yellow diamond, believed to be the world’s largest of this kind was sold for $12.4m. This daffodil treasure had generated a lot of interest during its preview show.

A fine array of high-grade diamonds and colored gemstones were also part of the famous sale. Approximately $70m worth of precious gems and jewelry were sold in the auction series. Sotheby’s next auction is scheduled for December 7, 2011 and is expected to include the royal ‘The Light of Golconda’ diamond ring.

Screen star Anna Hathaway, 28, got engaged to Adam Shulman, 30-year old actor and jewelry designer as well whom she has been dating since 2008.
