Sotheby's to Auction Rare Egyptian, African and Indian Inspired Jewels

At the forthcoming auction of Magnificent Jewels to be held on 11 December 2013 in New York, Sotheby’s is featuring a range of more than 60 years old spectacular jewels inspired by Egypt, Africa and India among few other beautiful jewelry from distinguished family collection.

Engraved with rare emeralds, rubies and diamonds, these intricate jewels are expected to be sold higher than the estimated prices. These exquisite jewelry include an 1947 Indian inspired 18 karat gold, emerald and diamond necklace and set with more than 100 carats of Colombian emeralds, a pair of 18 karat gold, emerald, ruby and diamond ear clips, inspired by the lush flora and fauna of India, and a gold, emerald, diamond and ruby brooch, encasing a 41.20 carat Colombian emerald in an ornate diamond frame. Also on the spotlight are fancy vivid yellow diamond, colored diamond and diamond ring centering a cut-cornered square modified brilliant-cut 51.75 carat fancy vivid yellow diamond, vs1 clarity, and a platinum, 18 karat gold, emerald and diamond bracelet set with eight cushion- cut Colombian emeralds together weighing almost 80 carats.

An Egyptian-revival faience and jeweled brooch designed as an Egyptian fan centering an ancient green glazed bust of the goddess sekhmet, set against the lapis lazuli sky twinkling with diamond stars is one of the many magnificent jewels which have garnered attention. This particular brooch was exhibited in 1924 at the French Industrial Exposition, Grand Central Palace, New York.
